argyle tote
August 2006
Fabric and materials:
1 yard brown pink and blue printed cotton
1 yard of light blue cotton
Pattern:
Drafted own pattern
It all started as a trip to Joann's for curtain material for my apartment. As my roommates and I wandered around the store, I found this fabric that screamed "make me into a purse!" Who am I to argue with fabric? So I bought a yard of it and looked through craftster.org for ideas. I didn't see anything that I really had to make, so I decided to try out my own pattern. And lucky me, it worked! The bag is pleated in the middle with a box pleat and has 1 knife pleat on each side of the center pleat. (At least I think that's what the pleats are called)

I decided to make the purse more of a tote bag and also completely reversible. The lining is light blue cotton that matches the blue in the argyle. The band that goes around the top of the bag is also in the blue cotton. It is backed with the argyle fabric so if the purse is reversed, it will have a light blue base with an argyle band. The shoulder straps are also made out of the argyle.

I finally uploaded pictures of the purse. There's really not much else to say about this purse, so here they are.
